Volleyball was firstly introduced in Malaysia way back in the early thirties when teams from universities of Hong Kong & China visited and played friendly matches.

In the nineties, many development programmes and successful international events have been launched and organized. The Mini Volleyball (Under 12-year) development program was introduced. The National Beach Volleyball event was launched in 1992. In 1993, the Semi-Pro League is launched.
